Designing — The Experience

“In common with all others, without exception, design is a process led in the mind : an experience lived alternately by the knowledge we have and the emotions we feel. What we know at any point in time is usually limited and fixed. Our feelings are diverse as we sit down to the task, assess our choices, apply the knowledge and give shape to a solution, and iterate back to generate several designs before choosing one; or another; or the next one. The final output is a product that could fetch us material rewards but the real dividend is our “becoming” that happens within, in our experience, even while the job is a work in process…”
