This series suggests an Alternate History waiting to be discovered…
The mosaic captioned “A Pastoral Scene” is of 2nd Century AD and is on display at the museum in Corinth, 60 km from Athens (Greece).
Obviously, the picture depicts Krishna, the Lord incarnate in Sanatan Hindu pantheon. He grew up as a cowherd, played the flute and charmed everyone who came in touch with him.
The portrayal is unmistakable : the bare body, the horizontal flute, the cross-legged stance ( tribhangam ), standing under a tree with cows grazing around, is exactly how Krishna is depicted in his land of birth – India – through the centuries since antiquity, and even today.
But what is the core Hindu lore portrayed in the pic doing in Athens ?
Was it a consequence of chance meet between a Hindu traveler, trader or pundit, and a Greek artist or man of influence ?
Or, is it the tip of an iceberg of proof that ancient Europe lived the Sanatan Hindu way of life ?
Does it reinforce the theory that the Hajr-e-Aswat or the Black Stone embedded in the eastern corner of Ka’ba is Shiva emblem, millions of which can be found in temples all over India ?
There are several more instances of Symbols from the Sanatan Hindu way of life …
… Tilak marks on the forehead, not just among Romans but among bushmen of Australia, that Hindu natives in the Indian subcontinent diligently put on in the morning, after a bath and prayer to the Gods ?
… The lions supporting the British throne, a practice common among Indian Kings and monuments ?
… The Bull worship among Ancient Egyptians, a veneration clearly observed in ancient Indus Valley cities and widespread even today ?
… The Hindu Vaishnavite mark on the forehead of an Egyptian and Roman emperors ?
… Ayu Devata, the Hindu God of Life, worshipped in Siberia and sculpted Hindu Goddess idols routinely available in the bazaars of Ulan Bator ?
… A pre-Islamic sculpture excavated in Saudi Arabia, preserved in British Museum, looks uncannily similar to the image of Goddess Saraswati, of wisdom and speech, in Hindu pantheon ?
… The images of Ram, bow in hand, followed by Sita and Lakshman, in that order, described in Ramayana … found on wall of ancient home excavated in Italy ?
… The ancient Shiva Linga emblem excavated in Italy and preserved at Etruscan Museum in Vatican, Rome ?
WHAT STORY OF THE PAST, THE HISTORY, THESE PICTURES TELL ?
There is something compelling in the evidence above ! What is it ?
Does it not merit more research and an unequivocal pronouncement of the truth ?
I surmise that the West has got it all wrong. And much of it is motivated to promote a sense of superiority or defend a loss of face.
However, the truth should take care of that ! As it would… in uncovering an Alternate History unfudged of bias and prejudice.
